Many people believe that advertising is a valuable tool to promote sales of a product while others tend to differ claiming that commercials are no longer noticed as they have become highly frequent. In my opinion, common as they may be, people are still influenced by commercials when buying things. This essay will discuss both viewpoints with relevant arguments.

To begin with, advertising enables a product to be known to the public of its availability in the market. It is an effective method of publicity of a product as well as a brand to influence the choices of an individual. For instance, fast food restaurant chains like KFC opt to advertise their latest food additions frequently displaying diverse options that compel a viewer to try the food as it looks delicious. Advertising, in a way exploits people’s minds using catchy jingles and close to reality emotional takes. Consequently, individuals are subconsciously influenced while making decisions to purchase items.

However, some argue that commercials no longer receive the kind of attention they once used to, owing to the fact that they are regular. Although advertisements are beneficial for brands and sellers, the increase in their number and their repetitive nature have annoyed many people. For instance, advertisements that are interesting at first lose their charm when they are repeated and could be tiresome to watch. Furthermore, when our favourite show is interrupted by commercials, it can be frustrating, and people usually switch channels to watch something else ignoring the advertisements completely.

To conclude, I believe that advertisement is an indispensable method to promote a product and boost sales. Although some ignore it, it is effective when used properly targeting the right demographic suitable for the product being promoted.
