Despite the advancements in agricultural field, millions of people around the world still face food problems. This is mainly caused by factors like poverty, unjust allocation of resources and war. However, if worked together, this can be countered effectively.
Inflation and low wages have contributed to poverty leading to people staying hungry for days. People living in such conditions cannot afford healthy food to feed their children and themselves which results in malnutrition and terminal illness. Furthermore, there is inequality in distribution of food which leaves many unfed for days on end. For instance, food allocated to be shared out to low-income groups is often sidelined to do secondary business where free ration is sold at a price. Furthermore, war crisis such as the Syrian crisis has led many people to be homeless and they have been in a despair situation with lack of access to quality food.
However, there are various solutions to fight global hunger. People need to be provided basic education to earn minimum wage jobs thereby enabling them to afford food. In addition, world leaders should come forward with plans to eradicate hunger in many regions of the world. For example, the UN has launched a donation program to help improve the food crisis in Yemen. Besides, they should also initiate peace negotiations between countries to reduce violent conflicts so that people do not have to leave their homes and go hungry.
To conclude, a vast portion of the population across the globe is still struggling with hunger. With proper eradication projects and awareness sessions, this can be combatted.
