It is believed by many people that an individual’s background can be guessed just by their style of clothing. While this may prove right in some cases, it is mostly incorrect. In my opinion, this statement does not hold true and I disagree with it.

To begin with, outfit option depends on a person’s likes and preferences. People who come from the same region can have distinctive style of dressing up. For instance, most people have diverse clothing opinions in India despite being from the same state. Some like to follow western fashion while others like to opt for western styles or mix up both. Thus, it is not likely to predict their cultural background.

On the other hand, it is seen that some specific patterns in clothing reveal a person’s personality and customs. For example, a lot of people pick light colours and simple attire which could mean that they like casual styles. However, this is not always the case and often turns out to be wrong. People con others by blending in and posing as a helpful person. We frequently see news reported about imposters in business world who scam innocent people for a living. They pose to be technicians or support personnel offering to help with technical issues and gain important credentials to launder money. Colours and garments specify an individual’s personal taste but do not indicate their nature.

To conclude, although clothing from a region could say about specific background of people and provide some idea of their characteristics, it is not wise to come to a judgement. I think outward appearance does not accurately depict their personality and societal background.
