It is believed by many that it is beneficial for children to participate in arranged group activities during their leisure time whereas others argue that kids should discover ways to engage themselves on their own. In my opinion, it is important for children to join others and not stay on their own most of the time.

Some believe that children who partake in coordinated group recreations become more sociable and harmonize well with others. These activities develop a child’s communication skills and they learn how to get along with other kids. For example, a kid who plays team sports displays team spirit and helps their teammates get better at the game. Although kids might fight, these activities help them learn from their mistakes and grow stronger together. They also develop understanding and caring for others while developing the right attitude.

By contrast, some argue that children need to learn to spend their free time on their own because of the problems they could face in groups. Many parents have received incessant complaints from their kids about a bitter fight with their mates which makes them rethink their choices. Some kids tend to bully others to suppress some trauma they have faced. Moreover, children might feel the stress of getting along and making friends with other kids.

To conclude, it seems quite hard for parents to decide whether to engage their child in a group or encourage them to spend time on their own. I believe that despite the challenges, parents should support their children to join other kids in team activities instead of isolating them.
