I am an avid reader and I have a good collection of books at my home. I prefer reading from a paper book as it feels natural than in an e-book except when I am too broke to buy one; then I just read on my phone.
I have read many books and the one I found most useful was The Alchemist written by Paulo Coelho. It is an adventure story about a shepherd boy who travels from his homeland in search of an extravagant treasure buried in the pyramids. Along his way, he meets some people including a person who claims to be a king and an alchemist who point him in the right direction of the worldly treasure. What begins as a search for an unknown treasure turns into a quest of within. With each obstacle crossed, he learns an important lesson. The main message of the book is to pursue your dreams by listening to your own heart and to read the signs thrown at us in life.
It is a modern age masterpiece admired by countless people around the world. The book has taught me to follow what my heart desires and believe in my dreams. If willed strongly, there is nothing we cannot achieve and the theme of the book revolves around this point along with the importance of perseverance and strong beliefs. I consider it to be one of the greatest books written by Paulo with extra ordinary storytelling and quotable lines that aptly describe life.
