Describe a difficult thing you did
  • What it was?

  • How did you complete it?

  • Why it was difficult?

  • And how you felt about doing it?

I have done many things that are difficult like learning how to cook and drive. Although, they were hard initially, with some practice, I got quite comfortable. There was one thing that I felt was the most strenuous thing I ever did and that was hiking. Here, I would like to talk about my hiking experience.

Last month, I came across a video online that caught my attention as it showed a place good for hiking that was only an hour away from my home. As I wanted to go hiking for quite some time, I packed my gear and set out on my journey the next day.

I started early at 2am and it took about an hour to reach the place. I had to hike a total of 15 kilometres to reach the hilltop. It was a place renowned for beautiful sunrises, but I did not expect it to be totally jam-packed. It was a total surprise. Nonetheless, I started my hike thinking it would be medium level in terms of difficulty. But I was totally wrong, as it was an upward hike that demanded a lot of physical energy.

Anyway, I did manage to climb in three hours’ time by taking short breaks every time I had to catch my breath and drink water. I had made a conversation with a fellow hiker and that made the hike a bit easier. At some points, I was breathless as it was a steep route and I had to slow down. It was definitely a lot more arduous than I thought.

However, it did leave me feeling energised at the end as I got to see a beautiful sunrise, although I was a bit late. I had an exhausting yet amazing experience and felt absolutely enthralled all the way up and down the hill. It was certainly an accomplishment for me.

Part 3 Follow Up - Questions & Answers

1. What kinds of jobs require people to be confident?

I believe every job demands a certain level of confidence. However, there are some jobs that involve communicating with the public and maintaining customer relationships that require a person to be highly confident. People in the media, teaching staff, public speakers are some of those who need to be confident to deliver what they need to do as part of their jobs.

2. On what occasions should children be encouraged? How?

I think kids should be shown encouragement in all positive situations, especially when they feel fearful of doing something like going to a sports game, attending a test, etc. These situations do good for them but kids are generally hesitant to do them without their parents by their side and that is when they should be encouraged to take a step forward. Showing that motivation will greatly help kids as they grow up.

3. How do you help children stay focused?

There are many ways to help kids stay engaged. Firstly, they would need friendliness to assure them that they could be themselves. Furthermore, making the environment a conversational situation would encourage them to concentrate more and get involved when they are being taught something. Another way to help them focus is by giving them short breaks as breathing spaces in between classes.

4. What challenges do young people face today?

I think some of the main challenges that young people face now a days are the competitiveness of the world and trying to thrive in it. The world has vastly developed and everyone wants to prove themselves and in this chaos, the young feel pressurised to make their own mark. Also, there are some mental challenges involved in academic and work life which are a bit tough these days.
