  • and explain what you enjoyed about this party.

I am a party buff and frequently attend and host parties for my friends and family. The party I would like to talk about is my friend’s birthday party that I went to last year. It was my school friend’s 25th birthday bash and she invited the entire school gang of ours. I thought it would be fun to meet them all after so long and it turned out to be a tremendous evening for all of us.

The party was in a beach-side resort in Goa organised at night with blasting music, campfire, dance, and some interesting party games. Not only my old friends, but I also met some new interesting people that I might never have come across if it wasn’t for the party. They are all from different lifestyles and professions and it was fascinating that we were all at the same place because of just one common friend.

In addition to fun banter, there was a lot of food served at the party which was lip-smacking. Various stalls serving a variety of food were setup and I tried almost everything even though I felt that my stomach would blow up. Everything was absolutely delectable.

I had an amazing time at the party and made quite a lot of friends with whom I still stay in contact. We are all planning to meet up again and go on a vacation this summer. I am sure it would be the best summer and I can’t wait to pack my bags.

Part 3 Follow Up - Questions & Answers

1. What are the main reasons people organize family parties in your country?

Special occasions such as a birthday, graduations, welcome home parties, e.t.c or sometimes just to have a party to have a good time.

2. In some places, people spend a lot of money on parties that celebrate special family events. Is this ever true in your country? Do you think this is a good trend or a bad trend?

I think such extravagant parties are often meant to show off social status and wealth and thus I do not think it is a good trend. In my country and in all the developing and underdeveloped countries, there is dire poverty which needs our utmost attention.

3. Are there many differences between family parties and parties given by friends? Why do you think this is?

Family party is a close group event with open age group and cares for all, depending upon cultures it may have varieties of food choice with cocktails or mocktails. Friends parties are open event within closed group and may not care for other sensitivities but own pleasure remains on top of agenda

4. What kinds of national celebrations do you have in your country?

In my country, the Independence Day and Republic Day are the major national festivals which occupy a prominent place in our culture. On 15th august 1947 our nation was officially declared Independent from British rule. On the Republic day we had our own constitutions as other countries has that time.

5. Who tends to enjoy national celebrations more: young people or old people? Why?

Senior people play a crucial role to let young know the history of their country. The flag of our nation is hoisted by the seniors who have done something for the people of our nation. I must say that senior citizens have great impact on the national celebrations. They guide youth to do some social works on such occasions like planting trees and volunteering in the civil hospitals.

6. Why do you think some people think that national celebrations are a waste of government money? Would you agree or disagree with this view? Why?

Spending money on national functions is not a waste of money as it is an investment made on the country’s people. I don’t agree with such thought. The tax payer’s money is spent on such celebrations. The money of government must be spent in the right manner and every effort should be made to ensure that national celebrations should be meaningful.
