Describe a person who impressed you the most when you were in primary school
  • Who he/she is?

  • How you knew him/her?

  • Why he/she impressed you the most?

  • And how you feel about him/her?

My primary school years are one of the most memorable years of my life. Not only because of the blissful childhood I had, but also because school was actually a fun learning place. I loved going to school and one of the reasons I admired it was my primary school teacher, Mary Stewart.

Miss Stewart taught my class the English subject all through primary school grades. She was one of the few teachers who managed to create an environment where students felt at ease and engrossed at the same time. She used to narrate stories of her life and childhood which helped keep  us engaged. She was also self-effacing with a pleasant nature and taught us the importance of humility and kindness.

I have to say, if it wasn’t for her lessons, both academic and life, I would not have understood many aspects of life in my childhood. She always put on a smiling face when teaching and helped us with other subjects too. I had the most fun in her classes although I gave her some woes as I was a naughty kid, she had minimal punishments which made me look up to her even more.

Now that I think back, I realise I never had the chance to tell her how much we all appreciated her. I don’t know where she is today but if I ever came across her, I would definitely tell her how she was held in high esteem by us and how good she was at teaching us important things over a cup of coffee. I feel honoured to have had such a teacher in my early school life.

Part 3 Follow Up - Questions & Answers

1. Why do people always miss their childhood?

Childhood was the only time when we were free of tensions and stress and that is why people miss their childhood a lot. For me, the biggest problem was completing my homework on time and nothing else. We had our parents take care of our needs and they offered a stress-free life to us as much as possible remembering which make us miss our childhood days so much.

2. Are kids happier than adults? Why?

I believe kids are perpetually happy. As kids, we have little to worry about. I can recall, I used to worry about things like losing my pencil or forgetting my homework. Even if those things happened, I would eventually be happy after playing games. Adults have many more things to take care of and responsibilities increase which makes them worry often.

3. Why do people still remember many of their friends from primary school?

A lot of people keep in touch with their friends from primary school. They remember and meet them regularly because they spent a crucial amount of time with them in their childhood. It definitely brings back nostalgic memories when they recall their time together with their childhood buddies.

4. What kinds of primary school teachers impress students?

Primary school teachers who are kind and friendly impress students the most. Kids tend to listen to those teachers who are willing to be patient and explain things to them in a fun manner. Making regular classes fun will make it more engaging and it will be a good learning experience for students.
