Describe a risk you have taken
  • what it was?

  • why you took it?

  • what the result was?

  • explain how you felt about it?

I believe in the saying ‘Fortune favours the brave’ as only when a person takes a risk will they find their true potential which is the real fortuity. In my life, I have taken many risks but the one that stands out is my decision to choose a career path which is diverse from what I initially thought I should pursue. I am a civil engineering graduate but after graduation, I decided to take up a job in an IT company that offered me a role of software developer which was nothing like what I studied four years for.

I was one of the few from my class who got a job and I felt beholden for the opportunity as well as proud of myself. There are many people who wanted a chance that I had got, to work in that very company and this pushed me to reconsider my career choice. I decided to take the opportunity and challenge myself. Although I was not sure if it was wise to join the company with no expertise or at least the learning required, I was able to quickly adapt to the new environment by learning some programming languages and much-needed software jargon required to do my job. I not only did well in my job but was also laurelled by my colleagues and senior management on various occasions. I think taking that risk was all worth it as I excelled in the path that I chose and enjoy what I am doing. I believe this will be the case in my future too as I like to take challenges to explore myself and my abilities.

In addition, they are also adventurous and less explored making many choose them as a sort of challenge.

In my country, a variety of movie genres are popular. Action films have a separate fan base in the demographic of youth. However, people enjoy other movies like romance, horror and suspense depending on their mood and preferences. In my view, the younger generation enjoy watching action movies while the older prefer calm and serene movies.

3. Do you think it is a good thing if a leader likes to take risk?

It is definitely a good thing if a leader prefers taking risks. It not only sets an example but also encourages others to try something out of their comfort zone and challenge themselves. It also teaches how to handle difficult situations and plays a vital role in the path to success of a person or team.

4. Do you think men and women will make a different choice about risk taking?

I believe there is no gender disparity when it comes to taking risks. Men and women likely decide on things based on their abilities and preferences. It is more of a personal choice than a trait that comes with gender. If an individual is brave enough to accept the outcome of a difficult decision, they would take the risk irrespective of their gender.
