Describe a time when you organized a happy event successfully
  • What the event was

  • How you prepared for it

  • Who helped you to organize it

  • And explain why you think it was a successful event

I am a party buff and I frequently attend and organize events for friends and family. Recently, I arranged a birthday party for my best friend, Jane. It was my her 25th birthday bash and I planned a big surprise for her by inviting the entire school gang of ours. I thought it would be fun to meet them all after so long and it turned out to be a tremendous evening for all of us.

I booked an exquisite beachside resort for an entire night with blasting music, campfire, dance, and some interesting party games. Jane absolutely loves seaside venues, and it was the perfect setting. Our friend who is a baker helped me choose the food items that were going to be served at the party and also helped decorate the party room with some photos, balloons and her favourite things as miniature toys. Not only my old friends, but I also invited some of our colleagues who she is good friends with.

Initially, I told her it would be just a few people to make it a complete surprise; so, as she saw all of the friends from our school days, she was very thrilled. I was so happy that she loved everything including the food choices I made which were quite delectable

We all had an amazing time at the party and reminisced about our school days. It was so much fun playing some quirky games and talking to everyone. At the end of the day, my friend said it was the best birthday party ever and that was enough for me. I am happy that it was a memorable event for her and me as well.

Part 3 Follow Up - Questions & Answers

1. How can parents help their children to be organized?

I think parents should have a timetable and some do-it-yourself activities for children to make them accustomed to arranging something by themselves. For instance, they could ask them to make a list of tasks to be done in a day and allocate time to prepare for them and then do them.

2. On what occasions do people need to be organized?

I believe there is no need for an occasion where people have to be organized. We should try to be organized every day as much as possible as it provides a clear picture of our duties. It is also a healthy lifestyle and lets us not waste any time doing redundant things.

3. Does everything need to be well prepared?

Not everything goes as planned so sometimes preparing too much can become a waste of time. Important things should be well prepared such as for exams and job interviews, but minor details can be left as is. It’s not always possible to prepare everything well ahead as it can be exhausting, and some things demand us to be instantaneous.

4. Do people need others’ help when organizing things?

It totally depends on the task at hand. If we are arranging a big event such as an anniversary or engagement party, we would need help from many people as it is not possible for a single person to do everything. Other times, when it’s just organizing our home or just taking care of some personal work, we should try to do it on our own.
