Describe an interesting conversation you had with your friend
  • Who you spoke with?

  • Where you were?

  • What the conversation was about?

  • And explain why you think it was interesting

A few months ago, I visited Delhi to attend a friend’s wedding. It has been so long since I went anywhere so I was excited to take part in the activities of the wedding. The venue for the wedding was set at a ravishing villa which was decorated with many flowers. Many of my old friends also came so it was a fantastic meet.

We were all excited to meet each other and quickly got on to participate in some traditional activities. While taking a break from the activities, my college friend, Alisha and I started to catch up. We were classmates in college and had initially planned to pursue higher education but went our separate ways later. I was glad we were finally at the same place as we got distant after graduation, even though we planned to meet up frequently.

We started talking about our jobs and life in general. It was small talk that turned into an engrossing conversation as she started telling me about her adventures. She has travelled to many picturesque places across and outside India. She also showed me photographs of all the locations and they were absolutely stunning.

I was astonished to learn about travel groups and how she met some amazing people when she made solo trips to some places. I also wanted to travel a lot but because of my day job, I never got much time. It was great to know at least she got to follow her passion and show her love for travelling. Now, I also think I should make time and tick some places off my bucket list.

Part 3 Follow Up - Questions & Answers

1. How do friends communicate with each other?

Friends usually communicate in school or college if they are still studying. Other times, friends stay in touch through phone calls, chatting via social media and meeting regularly. Now-a-days, it has become highly common for young people to interact using social media applications instead of meeting outside.

2. When men chat with other men, do they usually talk about the same things that women do when they chat with other women?

The topic of conversation entirely depends on the people that are talking. Gender does not really play a major role in making communication. Sure, there are certain things that men discuss only with men and the same applies to women, but other conversations are based on the interests of the two people talking about them.

3. Do you think women like to chat more than men?

I don’t believe gender has anything to do with how much a person wants to chat. It completely depends on the individual and their preferences. For instance, I don’t like chatting and being on my phone for long hours in a day while my brother likes to post all his activities on social media and texts his friends all the time.

4. How do most people make new friends in your country?

Like in any other country, people in India make friends by attending social gatherings like parties and traditional ceremonies and having small talk and bonding on common interests. Usually, we meet new people at our school or college or at our workplace and then gradually become friends as we share a common place.
