Describe an occasion when you ate a kind of food for first time
  • when you had it?

  • where you ate it?

  • what it was?

  • and how you felt about it

I am a foodie and I enjoy exploring cuisines that are new to me. Even though, I eat outside frequently, I keep a check on the kind of food I eat and sometimes choose to have salads to keep myself healthy.

I have tasted a variety of dishes including some Chinese, Korean, Italian and several other dishes that I absolutely enjoyed eating. Recently, I dined at a restaurant called Mekong in my hometown, Pune, for lunch with my friends. We planned to go there several weeks ago as we heard the restaurant serves scrumptious Asian food and we finally were able to enjoy their food last week. It was a fancy restaurant with a calm ambience and courtly staff. My friends ordered Manchurian and dumplings for themselves and I had a Thai dish called Pad thai for the first time. It is a stir-fried rice noodle dish with some chicken, eggs, spring onions, vegetables like carrot and bell peppers which are tossed in pad thai sauce which gives the dish a tangy and sweet flavour.

It was one of the most flavourful international delicacies I have ever eaten in a while, as it contained a mixture of fish sauce, tamarind juice and shallots. The sweet-savoury fusion was definitely a treat for me and to add to this, the cook has made some changes to the dish as per my liking. I utterly loved eating it and would eat it again when I get a chance.

It is mostly available along the beach side, giving it the nickname ‘beach snack’.

4. Is it expensive to eat out in your country?

Eating out in India is actually affordable and economical. There are several street food stalls and restaurants that offer a variety of delicious cuisines. However, for a fine dining experience and to have dishes that are rarely available in some parts of the country, one needs to have a fat pocket.

5. What kind of food do you prefer eating?

I am not choosy but I like to eat food that is not deep fried in oil. Besides, I prefer eating meat when I am outside as non-vegetarian dishes served at food stalls and restaurants are much more delicious than the ones made at home.
