Describe an occasion you wore the best clothes
  • when it was?

  • what you wore?

  • what it looked like?

  • and explain why you wore it

I like to stay updated with the latest designs of clothes be it traditional or western outfits. I wore my best clothes for my birthday this year which my sister gifted to me. It is a lavender coloured gown with beads and stone tassels and a little bow. Whenever there is a special occasion, I ask my sister for suggestions to select my outfits because I trust her choice. Her sense of fashion is exceptional.

The gown was made of lavish satin with layers from top to bottom and some beadwork designed in flowers on the chest which enhanced its beauty. I wore silver coloured platform heels which suited perfectly with the gown. I was also wearing a bracelet and earrings of rose gold colour that perfectly suited me. I looked absolutely gorgeous in the gown and everyone who attended my birthday party praised it and asked my sister for the details of the shop where it was bought from. I was so happy that I decided to wear that dress instead of regular jeans. I have to say my sister certainly has an amazing taste when it comes to clothes.

Recently, I wore that dress again to my cousin’s wedding and I decided to keep it with me always. It looked striking in all the photographs. I believe clothes also bring happiness to a person and boost confidence. I had a great time on both occasions wearing it as it was beautiful as well as comfortable.

Part 3 Follow Up - Questions & Answers

1. Do you think people need to wear formal clothes in the workplace?

Well, I think formals signify a class and makes you feel disciplined. As they say, 'clothes put on emotion to your soul'. We can't wear shorts and crops in office and crisp white shirt and trousers to pubs. Clothes give the feel of what you are into at that point of time.

2. Why do some people like to wear traditional clothes?

I would think it would probably be because one would want to be comfortable in their clothing. If that means wearing traditional clothing to a special occasion then so be it. Some people prefer comfort over dressing up for such occasions whereas some people don’t. Sometimes I also think it’s not about physical comfort but also emotional comfort. Such as if you are going to an event that already makes you uncomfortable and anxious, wearing something that keeps you safe and comfortable is a coping mechanism. Either way is perfectly fine.

3. Do you think traditional clothes disappear in the future?

Definitely not! Wearing traditional clothing is considered in fashion nowadays. Major clothing brands are trying to project an amalgamation of various traditions in their outfits. The youth of today consider it fashionable and I believe this trend will keep growing.

4. Do you think people change the style of clothes they wear as they get older?

Not necessarily. Though I think that to some extent we naturally change the way we dress as we age anyway. Some develop disabilities that might, for instance, preclude the wearing of certain types of footwear or clothing that fastens in a particular way. There’s also a freedom that comes with age in that many start caring less about the opinions of others than we might have done in our youth.
