Cycling is one of the healthiest ways to stay fit which many people incorporate in their lives by commuting short distances or by taking trips. It is a fun as well as environment friendly activity which is enjoyed by kids and adults alike. I like riding a bike in the evenings to keep myself physically active and often take trips too. I went on a venturous trip last year with some of college friends on bikes to Coorg, a hill station in Mysore. It is a beautiful place with monasteries, waterfalls and restaurants that offer appetizing local dishes. 

We first travelled there from Mysore on a bus and chose to riding bikes for the rest of the trip where we planned to visit various places in the area. We visited a mystical monastery where we got a chance to meditate with some monks and proceeded to a viewpoint on a nearby hill. The place was half covered with fog and clouds which made the view from there was spectacular. We later visited a lake where we enjoyed some water sports and zip lining. 

I felt rejuvenated with the trip and so did my friends. Bike riding in the place was as adventurous as zip lining for me. It was the first time I zip lined and it was a fantastic experience. Although I was exhausted by the end of our journey, it was all worth it.

1. Do people in your country often travel by bike?

Yes, people have been using a bicycle for transportation in India for several years. It promotes a healthy and environment friendly lifestyle for everyone who opt to use a bike. There are numerous companies who encourage their employees to use a bicycle and arrange them to roam within office premises.

2. Which is more convenient, bicycle or a car?

In terms of convenience, I would say car takes the higher place as it can comfortably seat more than two people and is generally preferable for long journeys. Cars provide a smooth journey even in harsh weather conditions and difficult places. However, some people love riding a bicycle daily to their workplace or school as it is both a fun and physically energetic way to reach a place.

3. Do you think that children should learn the skills of riding from an early age?

Yes, I consider learning how to ride a bike is a great experience for children. I got my first bike when I was fifteen and I felt I missed out on a lot of playful things that involve biking as a child. So, children can get involved in fun cycling activities with other kids if they learn riding a bike at a young age. It also teaches them to be independent and burn some energy while going out.

4. Do you think cycling is a good way to exercise?

Absolutely, cycling helps burn a lot of calories and gives a feeling of rejuvenation. It is one of the best exercises to stay healthy as it is not just a leg exercise but also a full body workout. Cycling daily even for a short time keeps a person fit. It is recommended to use a bike for travelling short distances daily if people get little to no exercise.
