Describe your idea of a perfect home
  • where it would be?

  • how big it would be?

  • what it will look like?

  • and explain why it would be the perfect home for you

My family and I have only ever lived in rented houses. It is my dream to build a house for my parents with everything that we wanted. Everyone has their own plans to build a perfect home. Likewise, I have imagined how each room in my dream home would look like, what furniture it would have, and how I could decorate it. My house would be a modern villa kind with a huge backyard where I can grow my favourite flowers and plants. Inside the villa, there would be a capacious hall, a TV room with a built-in home theater and a kitchen with a wide dining area. Upstairs, there would be three bedrooms, one for my parents, one for me, and the other one for guests.

I plan to have balconies attached to all the rooms so I can grow some bonsai plants and rose flower plants. The balconies would be like little gardens to sit and enjoy sunsets. I have always wanted to have mini gardens on balconies so I would not miss out on that opportunity. Furthermore, the house's interior walls would be adorned with a calming design with cool colours and some home plants.

Now, this would be a dream home only if I had my family living there with me. They have lived in the suburbs for quite some time and convincing them to move out would take ages. However, once they see how stunning the house and the neighbourhood would be, I am sure they will immediately agree as having our own home has also been a dream.

Part 3 Follow Up - Questions & Answers

1. Do young people in your country like to live with their parents or by themselves?

Actually, in my country if you don't live with your parents, you're a bad egg. The reasoning people have here is that our parents owe it to their children. I believe that as well. They give birth to us, take care of us, raise us well, pay fat paychecks for our education, and when their kids get old enough, they pack up their bags and leave. Sometimes they keep check on their folks, mostly not. And when the parents grow old, they spend their lives in some sad old group home. What happens here, however, is that we stay with them. We take care of them when they grow old. We make sure they get all the love, care and support they need. Growing old is frustrating and painful. They don't go through that alone in my country.

2. Do people in your country like to rent a place to live?

Metro cities in my country are already struggling to accommodate a large number of population and proper housing is one of the key problems for many. If someone does not have a large sum of money to spend on his accommodation per month, he will surely find it hard to arrange a nice place to live .People who migrate to metropolitan cities in search of livelihood especially prefer to live in rented houses as it is the only viable option they have.

3. Would you live in a foreign country in the future?

It is very difficult for me to live elsewhere, leaving all my comforts to try out something new with just excitement. In my country you can never get bored, there is always something around you that can arouse curiosity. Across the nation, there are so many times when you can appreciate diversity. There are so many people from different religions, cultures, places - yes, language can be a wee bit problem but its our patriotism, brotherhood and now well, English language that unites us the most.
